Inasmuch Foundation Announces

$159,500 in Grants to Colorado Springs Organizations

 

(Oklahoma City) --- The Inasmuch Foundation announced today the distribution of $159,500 in grants to 12 organizations in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

 

Edith Kinney Gaylord founded the Inasmuch Foundation in 1982.  Today, the Foundation is committed to carrying on the interests of its late founder by giving to education, health and human services, cultural organizations, the arts, historic preservation and environmental concerns.         

 

 “The recipients of grants announced today represent a broad spectrum of charitable organizations, each doing their part to serve a particular need in El Paso County,” said Robert J. Ross, President and CEO of the Inasmuch Foundation.  “I know that Edith Kinney Gaylord would be pleased to know that her Foundation is able to support this community, a place that was very special to her throughout her entire lifetime.”     

 

Organizations awarded grants from the Inasmuch Foundation include:

 

  • $100,000 to Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center for the Renaissance Campaign, a construction and renovation project that will expand the Center from 55,500 to 88,000 square feet.

              

  • $10,000 to University of Colorado Foundation for a Chancellor's Leadership Class scholarship and for the CU Aging Center which provides outreach services to Silver Key Senior Services staff for mental health assessment and treatment.

              

  • $7,500 to Falcon School District 49 for the Academy of Health Sciences to support equipment for the lab/classroom, curriculum supplies and development and intervention strategies to assist students to master science and math skills.

              

  • $5,000 to Children's Advocacy Center for the Pikes Peak Region to increase the crisis support and educational support groups for children and non-offending parents impacted by child sexual abuse.

              

  • $5,000 to The Colorado College for programs of the Colorado College Summer Music Festival.

              

  • $5,000 to Colorado Springs Child Nursery Centers for the Health Program including a medical staff to assist families and children with their health care needs, a Get Well Center to house mildly ill CNC children, health related classroom activities and education, and CPR and First Aid training.

              

  • $5,000 to Ecumenical Social Ministries for a mental health initiative in partnership with Pikes Peak Mental Health Center Systems to provide mental health assistance for indigent individuals.

              

  • $5,000 to Kids In Need of Dentistry for the expansion of the Colorado Springs dental clinic including the purchase of equipment for another operatory.

              

  • $5,000 to Leadership Pikes Peak for the 30th Anniversary Celebration to celebrate past accomplishments and future plans of the organization.

              

  • $5,000 to Pikes Peak Community Foundation on behalf of the Friends of the Manitou Springs Public Library for the expansion of the library.

              

  • $4,500 to Trails and Open Space Coalition for Conservation 2006, a plan to expand outreach and service to regional citizens and communities through preservation of open space, rural land, and creation of network of trails and greenways.

              

  • $2,500 to Colorado Springs Teen Court for the Alternative Youth Sentencing Program, a primary service since Teen Court's inception in 1994.
