Inasmuch Foundation Announces

$3.5 Million in Grants to Oklahoma Organizations

 (Oklahoma City) --- Inasmuch Foundation announced today the distribution of $3.5 Million in grants to 46 organizations in Oklahoma.

 

Edith Kinney Gaylord founded Inasmuch Foundation in 1982 to support charitable, scientific and educational causes that enhance the progress and quality of life for Oklahomans. Today, the Foundation is committed to carrying on the interests of its late founder by giving to education, health and human services, cultural organizations, the arts, historic preservation and environmental concerns.

 

“Inasmuch Foundation is pleased to support these outstanding organizations, each striving to make a difference in our community and in the lives of the people they serve,” said Bob Ross, President and CEO of Inasmuch Foundation. 

 

Organizations awarded grants from Inasmuch Foundation include:

           

  • $500,000 to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation for construction of a new research tower.

           

  • $350,000 to Leadership Oklahoma City for a work of art for Bicentennial Park at the Civic Center.

           

  • $325,000 to Oklahoma City Museum of Art for the 2008-2009 season, including a 4 month presentation of Roman Art from the Louvre and a statewide student scholarship program that includes free admission and reimbursement of school bus transportation expense.

           

  • $298,000 to Smart Start Central Oklahoma for the Early Childhood Family Support project, including continuation of the public engagement campaign and READY! for kindergarten program.

           

  • $250,000 to Daily Living Centers for construction of a new headquarters in Bethany.

     

  • $250,000 to St. Anthony Foundation for renovation of the Behavioral Medicine Center.

           

  • $250,000 to White Fields, a home for abused and neglected boys ages 8-18, to build an education center.

           

  • $250,000 to Mercy Health Center Foundation for expansion of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

           

  • $197,898 to Sunbeam Family Services for capacity building relating to the start-up expense for Oklahoma City Educare.

           

  • $100,000 to Oklahoma City Philharmonic for a concert with fireworks on the Oklahoma River as part of downtown Oklahoma City's July 4th festivities.

           

  • $75,000 to American Banjo Museum for renovation of a building in Bricktown to become the Museum's new home.

           

  • $75,000 to United Way of Central Oklahoma for the Children's Oral Health Project, a program of Central Oklahoma Turning Point, targeting children in low-income schools where dental disease is widespread.

 

  • $50,000 to Variety Health Center for its pediatric clinics including two pediatricians, one physician’s assistant and six nurse practitioners; the clinics provide maternal and child health care to low income families.

           

  • $50,000 to Lyric Theatre for 2008 production costs at Civic Center and Plaza Theatre.

           

  • $50,000 to Oklahoma Arts Institute for scholarships for the 2008 Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute.

           

  • $35,000 to Canterbury Choral Society for the 2008 Season Opening Concert with Kelli O'Hara.

           

  • $30,000 to Putnam City Public Schools for Putnam City Oklahoma Parents as Teachers.

           

  • $30,000 to Possibilities for capacity building work with school sites and surrounding communities.

           

  • $25,000 to Latino Community Development Agency for Hombres de Paz, an empowerment program targeting intervention among low-income Hispanic adults at risk of family violence.

           

  • $25,000 to Citizens Caring for Children for the Resource Center, a program that offers clothing, school supplies, books and toys to foster children living in the Oklahoma City Metro area.

 

Grants ranging from $20,000 to $50,000 include Community Action Project of Tulsa County, Happy Hands Education Center, Calm Waters Center for Children and Families, Emergency Infant Services, Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma, Executive Service Corps of Central Oklahoma, NorthCare, and Cherokee National Historical Society.

 

Grants ranging from $4,000 to $20,000 include Center for Children and Families, Schools for Healthy Lifestyles, Center of Family Love, Hugs Project, Rebuilding Together Tulsa, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Presbyterian Urban Missions, Walters Public Education Foundation, Tulsa Opera, Price Tower Arts Center, Lawton Public Schools and Untitled [ArtsSpace].
