Inasmuch Foundation Announces $6.8 Million in Grants to Oklahoma Organizations

(Oklahoma City, OK) May 22, 2009--- Inasmuch Foundation announced today the distribution of $6.8 Million in grants to 55 organizations in Oklahoma.

Edith Kinney Gaylord founded Inasmuch Foundation in 1982 to support charitable, scientific and educational causes that enhance the progress and quality of life for Oklahomans. Today, the Foundation is committed to carrying on the interests of its late founder by giving to education, health and human services, cultural organizations, the arts, historic preservation and environmental concerns.

“We are pleased to announce grants supporting so many outstanding organizations making Oklahoma a better place for its citizens,” said Bob Ross, President and CEO of Inasmuch Foundation. “In these difficult economic times, we believe it is imperative to support non-profit organizations that recognize the importance of utilizing limited resources efficiently to ensure the continuity and, when possible, the expansion of services.”

Organizations awarded grants from Inasmuch Foundation include:

• $1,500,000 to University of Oklahoma for its study abroad program in Arezzo, Italy.

• $1,000,000 to Oklahoma City University for a building addition to the Kramer School of Nursing. The new building will be connected to the current one by a walkway plaza and will add 50,000 square feet to the existing 16,000 square foot facility.

• $500,000 to Enid’s Community Development Support Association for development of the Non-Profit Center, a facility where organizations co-locate to share resources. Major focus is the Center for Early Childhood Development, offering model childcare play areas, leading edge training facilities and resource library.

• $500,000 to Oklahoma City Museum of Art for the purchase of two painting by Ippolito Caffi for the Museum’s permanent collection in honor of Carolyn Hill, the former Executive Director of the Museum.

• $325,000 to Oklahoma City Museum of Art for the 2009-2010 season, headlined by Turner to Cezanne: Masterpieces from the Davies Collection, National Museum Wales, and for the Yellow Bus Brigade program which brings students from all across Oklahoma to the Museum.

• $300,000 to Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma for the Food 4 Kids backpack program.

• $295,000 to Smart Start Central Oklahoma for the READY! for Kindergarten program and for its ongoing public engagement campaign.

• $250,000 to Casady School for construction of the Upper Division math facility, with six classrooms, a suite of six faculty offices, workroom, consulting room, student lounge, and an area for student lockers.

• $250,000 to Westminster School for classroom computers, laptops for middle school teachers, Smartboards and other technology and software needs.

• $170,000 to Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City for the Immigration Assistance Program.

• $125,000 to Bishop McGuinness Catholic High School for an upgrade of the lighting in the Petusky Performing Arts Center.

• $125,000 to Heritage Hall for a library and study center, the last phase of the Harris Hall renovation.

• $125,000 to Variety Health Center for pediatric providers; includes two pediatricians, one physician assistant, and six nurse practitioners.

• $100,000 to OK CityScape, a unique holiday fundraiser for OKC Educare that will showcase over one million Lego bricks in an immense model of Oklahoma City.

• $100,000 to Oklahoma City Philharmonic for a patriotic concert in Bricktown on July 3, 2009 as part of downtown Independence Day festivities, and for the Kristin Chenoweth concert headlining the 2009-2010 Pops Series.

• $80,900 to Sunbeam Family Services for start-up expenses at Oklahoma City Educare, scheduled to open in July.

• $70,325 to Putnam City Public Schools for off-site Pre-K programs and to expand its Oklahoma Parents as Teachers program.

• $60,000 to Possibilities for Camp Possibilities, a yearlong training program giving people the chance to accomplish community change. A particular focus will be the new Educare school site in southeast Oklahoma City.

• $50,000 to Community Action Project of Tulsa County for the Tulsa Initiative, a program to increase the rate of upward economic mobility of low-income children in Tulsa.

• $50,000 to Lyric Theatre for production costs of musical theatre productions at the Civic Center and Plaza Theatre in 2009.

• $50,000 to Mental Health Association of Central Oklahoma for the Guide to Mental Health Care in Oklahoma, an internet-based directory of community resources.

• $50,000 to Oklahoma Arts Institute for the 2009 Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute.

• $45,000 to Executive Service Corps of Central Oklahoma for comprehensive consulting services for four nonprofits.

• $45,000 to Stillwater Domestic Violence Services for the Wings of Hope campaign to build a combined shelter and program facility.

• $40,000 to Community Action Agency of Oklahoma City to match deposits made by low to moderate income working high school students participating in a savings program for higher education.

• $36,000 to Canterbury Choral Society for concert support.

• $35,000 to Oklahoma Conference of the United Methodist Church for Exodus House, a residential treatment program of Criminal Justice and Mercy Ministries.

• $35,000 to Oklahoma Outreach Foundation for Sober School.

• $31,500 to Rainbow Fleet for the Child Care Resource Center.

• $30,000 to Hearts for Hearing Foundation for the Sound Beginnings initiative, providing necessary diagnostics, audiological testing and the first set of hearing aids at no cost to eligible families of babies in Oklahoma with a bilateral hearing loss.

• $25,000 to Boys and Girls Clubs of Oklahoma County for increased Phase II construction costs for the club house.

• $25,000 to Children's Center for a Goshen Coach II transport vehicle.

• $25,000 to Chisholm Trail Heritage Center for expansion of education programming, including free admission and travel subsidies for Title I schools.

• $25,000 to Citizens Caring for Children for the Resource Center, a program that offers clothing, school supplies, books and toys to foster children living in the Oklahoma City Metro area.

• $25,000 to Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Central Oklahoma for the Foreclosure Prevention Counseling Project.

• $25,000 to Emergency Infant Services for general operating support.

• $25,000 to Girl Scouts of Eastern Oklahoma for Girl Scouts Beyond Bars, a program that facilitates visits between incarcerated mothers and their children and engages them in social and educational activities designed to foster positive familial and personal development.

• $25,000 to Happy Hands Education Center for the Annual Fund.

• $25,000 to Last Frontier Council, Boy Scouts of America for completion of the first phase of capital improvements at Camp Kickapoo.

• $25,000 to Mabee-Gerrer Museum of Art for the 2009-2010 Special Exhibition Season and for scholarship funding for free school tour admissions and bus expenses.

• $20,000 to FreedomSchool Oklahoma City for the 2009 summer program, a 6-week reading and cultural enrichment program designed to serve 50 kindergarten through 5th grade children from underserved communities in Oklahoma City at no cost to families.

• $20,000 to the Oklahoma Museum of History for submission and promotion of “Unconquered: Allan Houser and the Legacy of One Apache Family” at film festivals.

• $20,000 to Presbyterian Urban Missions for the School Supplies for Kids Program.

• $15,000 to Cherokee National Historical Society for the 2009-2010 Cherokee Humanities Course.

• $15,000 to Oklahoma Children's Theatre for 2009-10 productions, camps and classes.

• $15,000 to Oklahoma Life Skills Association for general support of Special Kids Programs.

• $12,000 to Sacred Heart Catholic Church for Sacred Heart/Mount St. Mary Summer Academy, an 8-week education project for low income youth in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Oklahoma City.

• $10,000 to Center for Nonprofits for six summits for business leaders in an effort to increase their awareness of the economic benefits of investment in early childhood education.

• $10,000 to the Hugs Project for care packages to troops in the Middle East.

• $10,000 to Oklahoma Caring Foundation for the Oklahoma Caring Van Program, a partnership with public health providers to offer free immunizations at child care facilities, schools and community locations.

• $10,000 to Rebuilding Together Tulsa for general and operating support.

• $10,000 to Smart Start Payne County for a comprehensive community assessment to determine needs and avoid duplication of resources in an expanded service area of Lincoln, Noble and Pawnee counties.

• $10,000 to Untitled [ArtSpace] for audio guided tours of exhibitions.

• $5,000 to OK Mozart for the 25th Anniversary Festival.

• $4,800 to Individual Artists of Oklahoma for membership and volunteer development programs.
