Inasmuch Foundation
Gives $206,000 in Grants to Colorado Organizations
(Oklahoma City) ---- The Inasmuch Foundation
announced today the distribution of $206,000 in grants to
ten Colorado organizations.
Edith Kinney Gaylord founded the Inasmuch
Foundation in 1982 to support charitable, scientific and educational
causes that enhance the progress and quality of life for all
individuals. Today, the Foundation is committed to carrying
on the immense interests of its late founder by giving to
education, health and human services, cultural organizations,
the arts, historic preservation and environmental concerns.
“Edith Kinney Gaylord was a visionary
who quietly gave financial support to a wide range of organizations
and projects that shared the common themes of compassion for
those less fortunate, enrichment of lives through knowledge
and beauty, and a willingness to embrace the future,”
said Robert J. Ross, Vice President and Executive Director
of the Inasmuch Foundation. “This list of grant recipients
reflects those qualities and Edith’s lifelong desire
to do the most good for the most people.”
Organizations awarded grants from the Inasmuch
Foundation include:
• $50,000 to Penrose-St. Francis Health
Foundation for their “Campaign for Critical Care”
to expand ICU/CCU bed capacity and accommodate the latest
medical technology including sophisticated computer systems
to improve bedside treatment and communication.
• $35,000 to Pikes Peak Hospice and Palliative Care
for five information technology components necessary to comply
with federal regulated HIPAA standards including server room
remodeling and backup system installation.
Organizations receiving planning grants from the Inasmuch
Foundation are as follows:
• $25,000 to Cheyenne Mountain Zoological Society for
the Rocky Mountain Wilderness exhibit. The project’s
central feature will be the Rocky Mountain Lodge and Interpretive
Center.
• $21,000 to Community Partnership for Child Development
to hire a consultant to develop a comprehensive strategic

the Inasmuch Foundation are: CASA of Pikes Peak Region; Cheyenne

Industries of Colorado Springs; Pikes Peak Mental Health;
and Pikes Peak United Way.
The Foundation name “Inasmuch”
was chosen by Edith Gaylord as a reflection of what she wanted
the Foundation to embody – an institution created to
aid in the betterment of communities. The inspiration came
from the Gospel of Saint Matthew as written in the King James
Version of the Bible where Jesus expresses, “Inasmuch
as ye have done it unto one of the least of these, my brethren,
ye have done it unto me.”
