Inasmuch Foundation announces two new Investment Committee Members
Katherine Patch and Brad Davey were elected to the Investment Committee of Inasmuch Foundation at the foundation’s last board meeting. The Investment Committee provides oversight of Inasmuch Foundation's investment portfolio by regularly monitoring the endowment's performance, risk and allocation.
Inasmuch Foundation Announces Organizational Changes
Over the last 20 years, Inasmuch Foundation has slowly and strategically expanded from a single employee in 2002 to a team of nine dedicated, passionate and highly qualified professionals. It is my great honor to share with you the following announcements, recognizing the evolution of our amazing team.
Inasmuch Foundation announces $4.75 million in grants
Inasmuch Foundation awards $4.75 million in grant funding to 55 nonprofits, including over $3 million to 33 nonprofits serving Central Oklahoma, $1.4 million to 16 nonprofit journalism organizations, and $350,000 to 6 nonprofits serving Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Oklahoma Clearinghouse Promotes Public-Private Partnership to Target Improvements to Oklahoma Early Childhood Systems
Today, OPSR announced the receipt of $500,000 from private philanthropy in support of the Oklahoma Clearinghouse for Early Childhood Success; a statewide program focused on elevating best practices in early childhood development.
Inasmuch Foundation Announces $6.6 million in grants
We are thrilled to award $6.6 million total in grant funding to 78 nonprofits, including $5.4 million to 52 nonprofits serving Central Oklahoma, $1,175,000 to 18 nonprofit journalism organizations, and $75,000 to 8 nonprofits serving Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Inasmuch Foundation Announces $7.7 million in grants
We are pleased to announce the distribution of $7.7 million in grants, including $7.025 million to 74 nonprofits serving Central Oklahoma. Another $675,000 was awarded to 7 organizations supporting the Colorado Springs community.
Oklahoma Centennial Clocks
To celebrate the Oklahoma Centennial of 2007, the State of Oklahoma Centennial Commission placed Centennial Clocks in all 77 counties throughout Oklahoma and many can be found on courthouse squares, in front of city hall and in other prominent public spaces.
Inasmuch Community Fellows
This week, 20 college students embarked on the 2020 Inasmuch Community Fellowship. For the next two months, the fellows will work as paid interns with nonprofits in Oklahoma City. We are thankful to each of the 14 organizations listed below as they stepped-up to host a fellow this summer amidst uncertainty during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Legal and Employment Services Emergency Grants
Our first round of emergency grantmaking concludes with the following five grants to organizations providing vital support to individuals seeking hope through employment, housing and legal services. As Central Oklahoma moves into the reopening and recovery phases of the pandemic, these organizations have pivoted to assist vulnerable individuals in navigating the increased legal, economic and employment challenges presented by COVID-19.
David Griffin Elected to Inasmuch Foundation Board
Inasmuch Foundation elected David Griffin, President and CEO of Griffin Communications, L.L.C. to the foundation’s Board of Directors. Inasmuch Foundation, founded by Edith Kinney Gaylord in 1982, champions journalism, education, human services, and community initiatives.
Inasmuch Foundation Awards $55,000 in Emergency Grants for Early Childhood and Mental Health Services
We are thrilled to announce this round of emergency grants supporting child care services for front-line workers and mental health services for vulnerable families in Central Oklahoma. “Each of these organizations worked collaboratively to serve vital needs within our community,” said Inasmuch Foundation Senior Program Officer, Sarah Roberts. “As always, our valuable partners say it best and their true leadership is outlined below. We are privileged at Inasmuch Foundation to get to work alongside these wonderful community servants.”
Inasmuch Foundation Awards $130,000 in Grants Focused on Food Security
We are excited to announce emergency grants totaling $130,000 to four organizations focused on food security. As the COVID-19 pandemic challenges our country, state, cities, and communities, we continue to be amazed by the response from our local nonprofit organizations to step-up to meet their clients' needs.
Inasmuch Foundation Announces Launch of Oklahoma Media Center
Building off a successful cooperative media convening last fall, Inasmuch Foundation is launching the Oklahoma Media Center in partnership with Local Media Association. The Center will act as a hub for collaboration and provide resources to advance local journalism and strengthen Oklahoma's news and information ecosystem. While The Coronavirus Storytelling Project announced two weeks ago provides assistance to individuals during the COVID-19 crisis, the Center will direct support to journalism organizations and be built with a long-term future in mind.
The Coronavirus Storytelling Project
Inasmuch Foundation is excited to announce The Coronavirus Storytelling Project. In partnership with Oklahoma Watch and The Oklahoma Journalism Hall of Fame, this project will provide a $500 stipend to five local journalists each week for the next four months. Furloughed, laid-off, and freelance journalists, as well as struggling community news organizations are eligible to apply. Selected individuals will produce a first-person narrative, data journalism story, or multi-media piece on either the coronavirus outbreak, challenges faced by journalists during the pandemic, or an issue important to Oklahoma in 2020. All content will be edited by project manager Mike Sherman, and shared in collaboration with media partners across Oklahoma.
$215,000 in First Round of Emergency Grants to Oklahoma
Thank you to everyone that completed our COVID-19 Survey. Your responses have given our team a great snapshot of the critical needs within our community and the inspiring response of the nonprofit sector. We are excited to announce our first round of emergency grants for Central Oklahoma, totaling $215,000. We are continuing to identify partners for additional emergency grants, as well as work through our annual spring grant cycle. Our team is reaching out directly to partners who've completed the survey to apply for our invitation-only emergency grants.
FREE Assistance to Nonprofits with SBA Loans and Nonprofit Survey
We continue to be inspired by the Oklahoma nonprofit sector's response to COVID-19 amid the challenges it presents to your organizations and clients. One potential source of relief during these uncertain times is through the CARES Act loan programs. Nonprofits are eligible to apply for the Payment Protection Program and the Economic Injury Disaster Loan program. The best advice we continue to hear about these programs is to APPLY AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. Applications are now open and money will be lent on a first-come, first-served basis.
COVID-19 Updates
Inasmuch Foundation is listening to the nonprofit community and needs your input to ensure our response is targeted and effective. If you are a nonprofit organization serving Central Oklahoma, please complete this survey by Friday, April 3rd to help us assess COVID-19's impact on the nonprofit sector. Your survey responses will help us identify critical needs in our community and direct Inasmuch Foundation's Emergency Grants. Emergency Grants will be invitation only and our Program Team will reach out directly to invite organizations to submit applications.
